Crew Member Reportedly Killed On Set Of New Resident Evil Movie
kotaku.com: There is, unfortunately, more grim news from the set of Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, where a crew member was reportedly crushed to death earlier this month. A stuntwoman who’d been injured also recently said that her injuries will cost her an arm.

While reading this article, I reminded myself why I am glad to go to a university that values safety so much. Other theatres I've worked in, especially my high school theatre, took safety as a second or third priority. Of course, it is extremely easy to disregard safety factors when working on a budget, with a certain crew, with special effects, etc. I feel like movies and certain events (like the Superbowl) are more likely to have safety problems since they do not rehearse their scenes or shows over and over. If a movie set requires a one-time thing where someone has to climb some random thing, they most likely won't care about safety as much as a theatrical production adding a crew member to a show. Again, I am glad to be involved in a shop that truly values student and faculty's safety, as well as an overall environment where safety is taught and respected.
