It is not surprising to me that 3D printing is taking off so fast. Although it is taking off so fast, I wonder when it will level off and why. There are currently "many" applications that 3D printing could have, but I hope that we start using it more practically then just making small silly gifts. I think that if we are going to use our resources this way we should make it worth while. I wonder how Asian countries and European companies will capitalize on this technology compared to the US. Government funding and research seems like it could really affect the progress and uses that are found by 3D printing. I am most interested in how it can help healthcare. We know how to manufacture many of the items we say lets 3D print, but 3D printing human body parts is much more fascinating.
