PBT's 'Nutcracker' worth a visit
Post Gazette: Tradition is part and parcel of the holiday season. We come to expect a familiarity with our surroundings, most often nestling in what might be called our comfort zone. We relish having our family members around us or we decorate in the same style. And we bake a pumpkin pie with a recipe that has been handed down for generations.

The tradition of the nutcracker is something that has always intrigued me. I have seen the nutcracker several times and each time I think...meh. I have not seen a performance at PBT and this review give me the feeling that the show would be decent, but should we call it a tradition? I think the answer has to be...yes. If year after year families go to the theatre to see this show, then it must be a tradition. I also respect that fact that this show often pays for an entire season of shows. Hopefully each year the "tweaks" that the artistic director makes at PBT keeps the show interesting.
