Gab Cody & Rita Reis talk about the world premiere of FAT BECKETT at Quantum Theatre
The story of these two collaborators is really interesting since I have heard several stories of the Beckett estate actually coming to see productions and shutting them down since they were not following the original intent of Beckett himself. I'm impressed at their level of thought put into the piece and the way they are honoring Beckett, not just defying his demands. By showing reverence to their inspiration it sounds like their new original play may be better than Godot itself. Plays that just make fun of their subject matter often get old after the first few jokes to me, but this intellectual approach has caused me to want to see this production.
