His aim is to unite two kinds of theater

Philadelphia Inquirer | 03/02/2008: "Playwright, director, actor and producer Je'Caryous Johnson, 30, wants to add one more title before his name: uniter. Well aware of the chasm in reputation between staid, respectable 'regional' theater and its rowdy, perpetually dropping-in 'urban' cousin, Johnson believes his newest production, 3 Ways to Get a Husband - opening Tuesday at the Merriam Theater - has the formula to bring them together once and for all."

I don't think that you should really judge the work that a person an create by the training that they have. It opens up the possibility of finding a new way of doing things that don't jive with the established norms. It also opens up the art to people that would never have seen theatre before. The fact that they sell out ever night shows that people do like what they have to offer, and isn't satisfying the public what it's all about?
