How to Set an Appointment With Yourself

lifehack.org: "When you’re deep inside a jungle, your vision is blocked by the trees. In order to plan a route, you need to break out of the dense forest and see the entire landscape. Similarly, if you’re thick in the jungle of your own life, you might not be able to see much beyond next week. Setting an appointment with yourself can give you the broader perspective of what you’re doing to help make changes."

This is some of the best information someone could give me right now. To be able to see past this week and really focus on what is going on and how it affecting what I am doing. What I am doing wrong and why. I find that just talking about EVERYTHING that is going on in my life is a pretty good way to see the bigger picture. You start to realize how areas of your life are affecting each other, and whether that is a problem or not.

I see the point of this article, and I do agree with it, but at the moment I feel like I actually don't have time to work on these broader things and these long term ideas. I do like the end of the article. I don't have time to join a club or learn a new trade right now, however, the idea of inspecting my habits would be fun and beneficial. Just picking one to adjust for now, that could actually work!

While I think the idea of concretely setting an appointment with yourself is a little...stupid... I liked a lot of the "bigger picture" ideas mentioned. Especially the part about analyzing frequent mistakes you make. I find myself in the same frustrating situations on a regular basis because i... just missed the bus, or forgot to deposit a rent check, or left my cell phone at school. All of these things add unnecessary stress into my day, and maybe I should take a look at analyzing them a little more and troubleshooting the small things.

Asking yourself these questions is really important to focus your energies. Even if just figuring out something for the next two weeks (which I know is what all of us just need to get through). But just reanalyzing yourself and your daily approaches to things can really improve your day to day activities. Now actually setting that appointment.
