Five Hints to Reclaim Time for Yourself
lifehack.org: "Sometimes it seems like your life just isn’t your own anymore - work, family, and other obligations swallow it up to such an extent that we often look back and wonder where all the time went! No wonder, then, that many of us feel as if life is just passing us by, and we can do no more than helplessly watch. However, with these tips and a little willpower, you can create time to center yourself and face the world with renewed enthusiasm."

This is why I REALLY miss the ocean. At home I would be able to walk to the beach and sit on the jetti and just watch the water. That is the most calming / relaxing thing for me. I am able to just think and clear my head. I'm finding it hard to find a place like that in Pittsburgh. The closest mass of open space that is near enough to me is Schenely Park.....not exactly the same experience.
This is amazing. I actually have been using these tricks since I got to school and they really make me feel sane. I wake up early enough to slow down in the morning, and walk slowly to class and by the time I get there I feel relaxed and ready to start the day. I have a very short walk from my dorm to Purnell, and it still works. On worse days I just walk slower.
I personally miss the commute to school because it was some quality NPR time, which is difficult to find these days. But I think this article makes a really good point that part of why we feel like there's no "me time" is because we don't use it well. We get to used to multitasking, it becomes difficult to do anything without that urge to be efficient.
I think Schenley Park is really wonderful since it's so close to campus. I feel really lucky to have it since being in a city with little time to enjoy the outdoors if they aren't right there becomes really tough.
The first one is one I definitely agree with. "Use your commute time" I know that when I used to drive to school or this summer driving to work, it was some of the best time to unwind and just listen to some music and just enjoy myself. Also, when I'm not so exhausted, the morning really is a great time. It's so peaceful and you can get a lot done in the morning, and feel accomplished, or just more awake and ready for the day.
