Quantum travels through the mythic in 'El Paso Blue'

Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: "Playwright Octavio Solis envisions the Texas town of El Paso not as a border town but a hybrid city-state that's both Mexican and American.
It's a place where borders are blurred, contradictions prevail and cultural ambivalence is the only certainty.
That makes El Paso a fitting location and title for his play 'El Paso Blue' that's being given a well-directed, superbly and subtly acted production by Quantum Theatre."

Wow - first commentor - so exciting....

Reading the play's description I couldn't help to think of W.B. Pierre's "VERNON GOD LITTLE" - a piece of contemp fiction published by Penguin over two years ago. It too paints a somewhat etheral light over El Paso and its psuedo-state mentality - the melding of cultures and identities that couldn't be more different. A good read, I would suggest it to anyone.

I also wonder how this play will do in the Burgh'. The author of the article made a good point to mention that there is a basically no Hispanic population in town....wonder who will show up...or if anyone is interested in fare like this...I would imagine there are parrallels between Pittsburgh and El Paso that most people don't know about. Interesting to see what happens.
