Charting the Course of the Show, 'Pirate Queen' to Launch On-Line Diaries and Web Events
Yahoo! News: "On Sept. 12, The Pirate Queen producers will launch a 'castcom,' billed as 'an on-line web communication which gives our cast and creatives an opportunity to tell you their story and bring you, our viewer, behind the scenes on our journey to Broadway.'"

So is this castcom thing a reality TV show that failed? A whole new kind of marketing stunt? or just a production manager's and stage manager's nightmare?
On the other hand, it should give us all an interesting (if only doubiously accurate) look at the making of a broadway show.
Talk about death to the theatrical process. Screwing up with no one watching is what rehearsal is for.
While the castcom has the oppurtunity to promote some serious hype, one mistake on the "video diary" could kill any chances of the actual theatrical show having an audience.
And as a management type I can only think that a production will have to pay the actors extra for being on film. and wouldnt Equity come screaming?
