TECHNICAL DIRECTOR – Had one too many cold winters? Ready to head south? Like them Georgia peaches? Established LORT theatre is seeking an experienced, highly motived TD with excellent organizational, collaborative, interpersonal, leadership, and technical skills to manage work scheduling, engineering and construction of all scenic elements for an 10 play season (5 on Alliance Stage LORT B, 3 on Hertz Stage LORT D, and 2 TYA on Alliance Stage). TD is responsible for the complete execution of all scenic elements in a timely and cost effective manner.

Responsibilities include: hiring and supervising all Scene Shop personnel (10 full-time) at new off site shop; directing the manufacture, installation, and strike of all scenic elements; design technical solutions for the movement, function, and structure of scenic elements; overseeing the annual budget for scenery, paints; maintain scene shop tools, equipment, and space; drafting work drawings in conjunction with the ATD, developing with the Stage Operations Manager a shift and scenic repertory plot. Is responsible for making sure all productions are built on time and on budget

Three to five years of TD experience in regional theatre (preferable LORT) required. Must have experience in advanced carpentry, metal working, welding, mechanization (winches, turntables, elevators), rigging, CAD drafting. Good organization, budget and supervisory and communication skills a must. Must be able to cost out materials and labor from designer drawings. Experience in scene painting a plus. Must have valid Drivers license and ability to lift 50 pounds on a consistent basis. Sense of humor essential.

Position to begin August 1, 2006. Full time position with vacation and health benefits. Salary competitive.
