The Magic Theatre ( www.magictheatre.org ) is in search of a new technical director for it's 40th anniversary season, '06-'07.
This is an ideal job for someone fresh out of undergrad or ready to step up to TD for the first time.
Start date will be sometime around the 1st of August, 2006. the position is 10 month seasonal, full time.
The Magic is a small professional theatre with a production department of two and a half. The TD is responsible for hiring extra carpenters as needed.
Primary responsibilities include the implementation of scenic designer's plans, maintaining our small shop, and a variety of facilities projects.
The ideal candidate will have a broad base of knowledge in a variety of technical theatre arenas (beyond scenery) including lighting, sound, video, and properties as they will occasionally be required to assist in those areas.
Additionally, it is essential that the technical director be a flexible, creative, individual with a positive attitude and who can embrace the spirit of improvisation -- being a theatre whose work is 90% new plays, one must always be prepared to alter the plan at the last minute.
