Barco In Discussions Over Sale of High End Systems To ETC
Stage Directions: Barco and ETC announced that they are in the midst of serious discussions wherein ETC would acquire High End Systems, Barco’s lighting activities, part of the Entertainment division. While the timeline for the completion of this acquisition is still unknown, both parties are committed to moving forward with a successful transaction.

I saw rumors of this posted all over the internet, so most of this wasn't a surprise to me. From comment sections and forums, I heard a lot of mixed feelings on this--some saying that it will ruin and "simplify" the products High End makes now, and some saying that it will mess up ETC's well thought out line of products intended for theatrical use. To me, I think it remains to be seen. One would hope that ETC would realize that the two companies serve two different sectors of the entertainment industry, and would work to solidify the tech that High End produces. ETC, after all, has very little connections in the concert section of the industry, and this acquisition would help them make a mark in that. However, I could see ETC having a negative effect on High End's products, and since they're such different companies it will be interesting to see what ETC does with the acquired company. Nevertheless, I think that this is a good venture overall.
