Wow! It is, of course sad to hear of any professional athlete retiring because of an injury, but I am amazed that this career lasted 22 years. In the dance world you are lucky to make a career out of ten years, let alone more than double that amount.
I think it is wonderful that she is staying on board with the company as a teacher and that she can still call it her home. As someone who hopes to make a successful career in the arts, this is both encouraging and sad. I would love to make such a great life connection with a company like that. On the other hand, I would like to believe the career of a designer will last more than 22 years. We'll see!!!!

It makes me sad when someone is forced to stop what they love because of an injury. I always hate how they make them write or say something saying how they will always remember their time fondly or their ready to move one. I always find these statements to be very fake because I know that if I were them all I would want to do was cry and scream if someone told me I could no longer so what I lived for.
