Madonna stage collapse kills 2, injures eight
Backstage at BackstageJobs.com: "The set for Madonna’s french leg of her European tour collapsed during set-up yesterday. The accident occurred at the 60,000 seat Stade Velodrome, France’s second largest sports arena. Current speculation is that one of the 4 cranes lifting the roof/grid into place failed, causing a slow collapse along the structure as the load shift caused sections to fail."

Its really terrible that we have to read about this sort of thing happening every once in a while. It sounds like, if the report is right, that it may not necessarily have been the screws fault and that the crane supplier may be the one to suffer the wrath. Even still, sometimes I wonder whether its really worth it, really necessary, to build these things to big, so heavy, so high that they have real potential to kill. Doesn't it always seem like its these huge tours that these major collapses happen at anyways? I dk....makes you really start to evaluate things sometimes....
