CMU names new drama school head
Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: "Cooke, a well-known theater designer with a Ph.D. from the University of New South Wales in Australia, began his appointment Jan. 1. Cooke comes to Carnegie Mellon from the National Institute of Dramatic Art in Sydney, Australia, where he recently stepped down as deputy director and head of design, a role he held for 22 years."

Wow --- Peter Cooke's history looks strong and I am excited to learn more about his plans for the SOD, in addition to meeting him in person. While I worry that his focus will be solely on design, I trust that the appointment will be beneficial for the entire school.
As a designer, I am very pleased to learn of Mr. Cooke's strong history in design. I often feel like the balance between technology and design leans heavily on the technology side. Perhaps Mr. Cooke's presence will help us regain some of that balance. I look forward to his work here.
I am very excited to meet Peter Cooke. I never had a chance when he was here interviewing, but he seems like he will lead CMU SOD. It will be interesting to see what changes will be made. Hopefully the design portion of the school doesn't out way everything else that happens here!
I had the opprotunity to meet Peter Cooke during crits last semester. I am very excited to see what he will bring to the school. I am excited that his focus is as a designer, but I hope (and assume) that this will not disadvantage the other strong departments in the school. I am also excited about his international experience and am excited to see how this will influence the school.
I hope he will teach some classes, so we can learn directly from him.
I met Peter Cooke briefly at crits, and he seemed very friendly and open. His experience looks very strong and promising; I'm excited about how he will contribute to the SOD.
I'm really excited to see all the new things that peter will bring. It's also pretty cool that we get to see dick a lot more because of this. peter seems to have a pretty good balance of both design and production which is pretty exciting as well.
I attended the presentation Peter gave to the school when he was here interviewing for the job and was quite impressed. While he is a designer and has the most experience in that field, I still think that, with his education experience, the other programs need not worry.
As a design student, I'm thrilled that we have a designer as the head of SOD. I am so excited to see what challenges and opportunities he will bring to our specific program!
