'In the Heights' edges Berkeley Rep's 'Passing Strange' with 4 Tony awards

San Francisco Chronicle: "A loud cheer rose from members of Berkeley Repertory Theatre assembled in a conference room at CBS 5-TV (KPIX) when word came that singer-songwriter Stew had won the Tony award for best book of a musical. A collective groan greeted the announcement of the final award of the evening, when 'In the Heights' beat out Stew's 'Passing Strange,' which had premiered at the Rep before moving to New York."
