More 'Urinetown' trouble

Variety.com: "Joseph P. McDonnell, who directed the original 1999 production of 'Urinetown' at the New York Intl. Fringe Fest, is accusing the team that staged the Broadway version of the musical of plagiarizing some of his contributions to the show."

this is interesting since the buzz around cmu last year also related to this similarity to the Broadway version. seems like there can be a lot of sticking points about remounting shows with members of the original creative team taking on larger roles in the new productions. It seems that a show like Urinetown that is so new and that has become so popular and that has original creative members continuing to stay involved in the project is bound to have this kind of attention thrown its way no matter what.
