I think I’m most excited for the “First Lady” play Sedef Ecer and directed by Adil Mansoor, October 2-11, 2025, at Carnegie Stage. I’m a huge fan of reimagining history in modern storytelling, and I love the themes that this play chooses to go with. Political ignorance, especially concerning the ignorance within the people in power of societies, is unfortunately still an incredibly relevant issue. I’m really interested in particularly seeing how they go about the costuming, as though it is based off of Mesopotamian history and culture, it is also a fictional nation. I think what really adds to this though, is the fact that the play is being used as a way to celebrate middle eastern culture, despite the moral contingencies within the story. The show “Bon Temps Rouler” at the Shakespeare Café is another show I’m incredibly interested in following and potentially seeing. The fact that a Shakespeare Café even exists in this area is enough to get me intrigued.
