Six Flags to charge extra for haunted houses, even for passholders
attractionsmagazine.com: For 2025, entry into the park during Six Flags locations’ nighttime Halloween events — Fright Fest, Scarowinds, Halloween Haunt, HalloWeekends, and ValleyScare — is included with daytime admission, but haunted houses (also referred to as “mazes”) cost extra money.

While I understand why Six Flags as a company feels the need to charge extra for haunted houses, from what the article states it feels unnecessary and greedy fro the company to suddenly implement. This implementation would be more understandable if Six Flags were to change certain aspects of their haunted house that would require higher fees, but without any kind of communication for a more different experience than before, it falls flat. Haunted houses are an incredible attraction to experience through any medium. Moreover, keeping their haunted houses included with regular tickets would give them an edge up on other theme parks. This trend of charging for seemingly unnecessary fees is a policy that continues to grow as our economy worsens, and tampers the image of joy and excitement that theme parks are meant to radiate. I think this initiative is harmful for the future of entertainment and that Six Flags should carefully consider how they make decisions and move forward keeping their audience’s concerns in mind.
