Compact multitool offers eight functions in titanium
newatlas.com: While there may indeed be a plethora of multitools on Kickstarter, many are either too small to use easily or too big to just toss in a pocket. The NexTool strikes a good balance, stuffing eight functions into a right-sized titanium body.

You got me reading an advertisement. That’s fine. This article is relatively comprehensive despite the fact that it reads like the back of a packaging label. Specialized multitools are a dime a dozen and the one issue I don’t think this article discusses is if this tool will be as reliable as other name-brand multitools. This is a kickstarter project and I didn’t see anything in the article or in the included video about the trustworthiness of the people making the product. With a multi-tool from companies such as leatherman you know you’re getting a trustworthy, often warranted product. This advertised product is not only $130 but also does not come with any of the assurances that more prominent and stuck in companies have. No matter how good this multitool looks and how well it claims to function I don’t think I could ever justify the purchase of something so expensive with no assurance that it would be up to spec, especially with no ability to return it. If you wanted to buy a wicked expensive stainless steel multitool maybe this would be the product for you but if you told me you bought one before they even shipped out and customer reviews could be taken into consideration I might label you a fool.
I am a multi tool enthusiast. I find them to be both handy to have multiple tools at once and still maintain the effectiveness of the individual tools. For some people, especially those once-in-a-while handy men, a light and small multitool may be the perfect tool to keep on hand. But for someone working in a scene shop, for example, having the individual tools is going to better get the job done. I think continuing to innovate and improve multi tools is neat, but the price tag is certainly large for a tool that does already exist, just in maybe a less elegant form. I think the NexTool looks and sounds cool but the multi tools I already own are just as good. For me this is simply not worth the purchase, but if you don’t yet have a multi tool and have been looking to buy one it could be perfect for you if for whatever reason the other tools on the market don't fit you needs.
