luminous sphere emerges from layered netherlands pavilion at expo 2025 osaka
www.designboom.com: The Netherlands presents its pavilion, developed by RAU Architects, at Expo 2025 Osaka under the theme ‘Common Ground.’ Designed according to circular principles, the structure serves as a platform for knowledge exchange and international cooperation, with a focus on the energy transition and environmental sustainability. Over a six-month period, the pavilion is set to host programming aimed at facilitating collaboration between Dutch and Japanese organizations across business, research, and policy.

This is beautiful! I find architecture so fascinating. In the theater industry we're all about creating worlds and spaces and moments. what we do on stage architects in the day today world. through their attention to detail and creative choices they have a direct impact on the people and communities who use their space. seemingly infinitesimal design choices and have everlasting effects on the community, lifestyle and mood of the people in it. I wonder how looking at Key styles of architecture, and the psychology of architecture could improve upon the scenic storytelling in the theater world. Similarly, I wonder if or how much crossover there is between architecture and scenic designers. I feel like both could learn a lot from each other, but I can also see how the lifestyle of the two jobs may separate those artists from each other. I have to take an architecture class at Carnegie Mellon, at some point.
More spheres, I can’t escape them D: Unlike other spheres, which I won’t name, but they’re in a location that rhymes with Vas Legas, this is a sphere that I can definitely support. It’s not ugly! The entire pavilion building that this sphere is located in looks really cool, and I honestly quite like how it fits into its surroundings. The messaging behind this sphere is really neat, and it’s a lovely attribute to the country and it’s history as a whole. The water theme ties in especially well with the concept of this pavilion being an environmentally friendly and sustainable space. The environmentally friendly and sustainable space vibe does not fit in very well with the whole 360-degree AI-generated film piece though. I’m curious about how the decision to incorporate an AI aspect into this space was made. Hopefully, they’ll replace the AI generated imagery with imagery created by real artists.
