I wanted everyone to know that there are currently two spam emails making the rounds. These emails are both part of a fishing scam.
One version comes with the Subject line " ADMIN/HELP DESK: DATABASE UPGRADE". The other comes with the Subject line " VERIFY YOUR ANDREW.CMU.EDU EMAIL ACCOUNT NOW"
Both emails appear to be from the ³Andrew.cmu.edu² and request that you respond with your email address and email password. On closer inspection you will see that the ³Reply-To² address points to ³gmail.com² or some other address outside Carnegie Mellon.
While most of this particular spam is now being blocked by the email severs, some may still be delivered. If you receive this email, please delete it.
As always; if you receive any email message asking you to provide personal information (name, address, account or password information) you should treat it as suspicious, even if you trust the senders address. Please feel free to contact me if you are unsure as to the validly of an email message.
Thanks,
-Louis
