Director commands actors to act badly in farce about the profession
Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: "As a director, he can't wait to stage the farce about an inept acting troupe. Yet he realizes the play offers a harsh look at his chosen profession. Even worse, he can't get his actors to be bad."

I now I know why every High School in America does this show. I have never seen it or read the script. I think that from a design eye, this would be a great show to work on. It is a show about a show in a theater space, and there are a million opertunitites for some cool design elements.
I had never heard of this show... but it sounds really funny. Will the audience be able to distinguish between good actors pretending to be bad and bad actors? Will the bad actors have an advantage or will they perform being bad artists, screwing the idea?
I had the pleasure to work on this show in one of many high schools across America that gave their hand at this comedy. I disagree with the headline attempting to summarize the show as a critique on the theatrical profession. I think that the show sucessfully paints an image of theatre as an extremely challenging industry with lots of crazy people who do it out of love, which from my experience, couldnt be more true. The idea of the show as actors being untalented and drunk is very low brow as the show never loses sight of the grandness of theatre, just the ridiculous personalities in this one particular group of actors.
