Susan Booth on "Ashland Avenue," the Goodman Theatre's Quintessentially Chicago New Play

www.newcitystage.com: Goodman artistic director Susan V. Booth first read Lee Kirk’s play “Ashland Avenue” because she was procrastinating. “It was a day I didn’t want to work on something I was supposed to be working on,” Booth recalls. “The best thing to do in those moments is to read a play. I got maybe thirty pages in and I knew two things. One, I really, really liked it, and two, I was reading it the way I read plays when I am wearing a director’s hat.
