AI industry horrified to face largest copyright class action ever certified

Ars Technica: AI industry groups are urging an appeals court to block what they say is the largest copyright class action ever certified. They've warned that a single lawsuit raised by three authors over Anthropic's AI training now threatens to "financially ruin" the entire AI industry if up to 7 million claimants end up joining the litigation and forcing a settlement.

I hate AI and I am glad that companies and independent creators have a chance at getting legal and financial justice. I like how Anthropic AI’s biggest argument against the lawsuit is that it will “doom” them and cause them financial ruin. Womp womp. Like bye, have fun paying the 7 million claims. I think AI steals from people who’ve worked to create websites on history, facts, artworks, literature, etc to turn it into half-baked inaccurate mush. It rots people’s brains and the planet. I don’t understand why anyone supports its use outside of practical system needs and disability aid. AI being used to facilitate basic thinking, art, writing, and anything that requires more than three brain cells to generate yourself is useless and wrong. It is unethical to grant AI power to anyone with connection to the internet. Deep fakes, plagiarized art, misinformation news articles and the general public’s ability to operate make our communities dull.
