MOSIAC

My name is Lacey Anderson, and I am the chair of MOSAIC 2007, CMU's Annual Gender Issues Conference. I am sure you are familiar with MOSAIC and it's success in the past. This year's theme, "Lenses: Gender in Focus" examines the construction of gender through multiple "lenses" or frames. The ambition behind MOSAIC 2007 is to critique how our "ways of seeing" shape social perspectives on gender norms.

Mosaic will take place on Sunday, February 25 and features Sheryl Swoops, all star of the WNBA, as our keynote speaker. We are so excited to have such a dynamic speaker this year! Immediately following the keynote address and Q&A, we will offer four 1 hour sessions for registrants to choose from. We have included a variety of issues in our line-up in hopes that there will be a little something for everyone.

I am writing to you in hopes that you may be able to forward along information about the conference as well as the link to our official website (http://www.studentaffairs.cmu.edu/Mosaic/index.html) to any d-lists that you think may find special interest in our conference. In the past professors have offered extra credit to those students to attended MOSAIC; however, many students are also drawn to it out of pure interest. We are hoping to spread the word as widely as possible and would love to see a full house at this year's conference.
