Sphere Immersive Sound upgraded in historic NYC venue
AV Magazine: Sphere Immersive Sound has gained two major new features in time for an installation at a historic New York venue.
The new version of Sphere Immersive Sound system at Radio City Music Hall introduces 3D differential beamforming.
Love to see the technology of the sphere starting to expand to more venues. As the pinnacle of current theatre technology. It not only means that people that aren't able to go see shows in the sphere will soon be able to get just as good of an experience elsewhere. It also means that techs will also be more able to use and learn the systems that they use at more advanced venues like this. I know I'm excited to get my hands on a system like that, it's just cool stuff and it's always great to see new technologies become more available for the general industry to use, and part of being part of the business is understanding as much of the technology as you can, and the sooner this technology expands the quicker that the masses will be able to better understand this new technology, and this could lead to new opportunities or Giggs for people like me.
I’m super excited for this, and I’d absolutely love to go witness it. I’ve always been curious about this audio as someone very interested in sound (especially in theaters), but I’ve never gotten the chance to witness it. The Sphere was packed the last time I was in LA, so I wasn’t able to go see it, or rather hear it. I’m happy to see that this sort of audio is coming to NYC and to the Radio City Music Hall, no less! It’s only fitting that it debuts at the Rockettes show. In fact, it's actually perfect for me. I’ve been meaning to go see the Rockettes for years, but have never gotten the chance to. This may be the perfect opportunity to cross both things off my bucket list and overall just have a good time and bring some friends. I’ll probably start looking into tickets sometime later this week.
I think this is very good for such a historical venue. While I personally may not have experienced the Sphere’s Immersive Sound, I have heard of so many great things about the Sphere’s venue and I know for a fact that this is a great upgrade. I believe a venue such as Radio City needs this kind of technology as it holds so many popular events such as award shows and the Rockette’s Christmas Spectacular. I think it’s important to make sure high quality venues have some of the highest quality technology to really enhance the overall experience of the audience. Especially with how big Radio City is, features like audio need to be maintained well in order for overall audience satisfaction. Hopefully one day I will be able to experience this for myself. I've heard so many great things about this venue and what kind of performances it holds, hearing about the Immersive Sound upgrade makes me more interested in going.
