Gypsy choreographer Camille A. Brown interview
GoldDerby: Camille A. Brown had the musical Gypsy in her bones from a young age. So when director George C. Wolfe needed a choreographer who could bring a new perspective to the show, instead of the oft-used Jerome Robbins dances, she was a natural fit. “I grew up on Gypsy. My mother introduced me when I was a girl, so I already knew the show. I already knew the choreography,” says Brown. “So that was really helpful to figure out, OK, this is Jerome Robbins' perspective, now what is my perspective?”
