Point Park Hosts 2023 National High School Dance Festival
onstagepittsburgh.com: The National High School Dance Festival, the first in three years, will return to Point Park University’s Downtown campus March 1-5, with 1,200 students from more than 70 high schools across the country participating.
Being at CMU, I have realized that sometimes we live in our own little bubbles. The fact that there is a Dance Festival that Point Park University hosts where 1,200 high school students come to participate is insane. I think that this opportunity is incredible for those 9-12 graders who are able to take master classes and audition for schools like Point Park, and the Hartt School. Boston Conservatory at Berklee and the Joffrey Ballet school; all of which are some of the most highly rated dance schools in the U.S. I learned recently that Point Park’s theatre program focuses a lot on dance and has more opportunities for dancers than CMU does. I find it well-equipped then that they host this event. If I have time and the means, I would love to go watch one of their recitals of performances, because I am sure that this group of students is some of the best of the best.
