Datebook: When you’re a member of the Kinsey Sicks — the so-called “dragapella” beautyshop quartet — you might be on the road touring for months at a time, singing snarky parodies, not just in four-part harmony but in high heels and eyeshadow as well.
The title of this article made me laugh so hard I had to go read it, and I am so glad I did. I absolutely adore the perspective Nathan Marken has on drag as an art form and on a cappella as a ready to go performance method. I especially love the way that he talks about combining the two in his shows. I would love so much to go see oy vey in a manger cause honestly just the title of the show is enough to get me to buy a ticket. I love a good holiday comedy and I love a good drag show so combining the two into one is amazing. I also love what Marken said about being on tour during the holidays and finding time to enjoy being by himself in a holiday that is so geared around being with others. I love the idea of being cosy in your hotel room with your favorite cocktail and a little peace and quiet. Some personal holiday cheer is always a good thing.
