Why Broadway Is So White, Part 1: Real Estate, Nepotism And David Mamet
Forbes: Earlier this week, we published a piece on Broadway and the racial makeup of its awards. Turns out the Tonys are no more diverse than the Oscars - New York just recognizes more black actors than L.A. does (and L.A. recognizes more Asians and Latinos). The other 95% of nominees are white (full stats here). The natural follow-up is: why? And then: what can be done to change it? This is the first in a two-part series addressing these questions.
