Upon reading this article, I was so disappointed that not only did I miss this award show, but I didn't even know it existed. That is one thing that I was disappointed about regarding the Oscars. There is a clump of awards for the production teams and that is it. What is nice is that there are awards that are as diverse as the art of costume design. To say, broadly, that one costume design is better than another is a fairly ridiculous statement.
ReplyDeleteWhat is true about costumes is just how diverse they are in their use and significance. A costume for a sci-fi film is going to be the complete opposite for a light hearted musical. It is therefore unfair to compare the two. There is also the matter of dealing with the intention of the costume. A costume is an extension of a character. Every character is different and therefore, the costumes are as well.
What would be interesting to see is the way in which the guests dressed to the award show. Fashion and costume occasionally have some overlapping features and it would be nice to see how that translated into the evening's wardrobes.
