washingtonpost.com: "After 35 years at the helm of a theater and acting school she built from scratch in a once blighted, now thriving city neighborhood, Joy Zinoman is doing what many thought she never would: Leave as artistic director of Studio Theatre."
With a mission of producing almost solely contemporary theatre and new works, the staff at Studio is smart to hold onto their positions and bring in a fresh face to become the new Artistic Director. Having worked with Serge, Keith, and Joy this past season, they were a strong trio of talented artists and I can't imagine studio without one of them. I'm sure her announcement will do great things for ticket sales to "American Buffalo", but I'm curious to see how it effects long-term sales in future seasons. Joy has a strong following who will see anything she directs, regardless of what show, so hopefully her replacement can quickly get her troops to rally.
