Bloomberg.com: Arts and Culture: "An exhausting search ended yesterday with the appointment of George Steel, chief of the Dallas Opera, as general manager and artistic director of the New York City Opera."
None of the people interviewed sound optimistic about the improvement of the New York City Opera. At least some believe that Steel will be able to lift it from its gradual downslide, or there would not have been such an effort to hire him. Let's hope that this is true, and Steel's move was not futile.
