First "13", now this. Spring Awakening. and Rent.
Frankly, I don't care how critics review these shows. I'm relieved to see the Theater world reaching out towards students. All of these incentives and shows ought to do something about our next generation of professionals.
This is the type of new musical I like to hear about. It has a message and is not a copy of a movie or a simple scheme to make cash. I would be interested to see a show about gang violence. I don’t know what kind of score it will have, but it sounds as though it will be really good or really bad.
I find it interesting that there is a new trend of hip hop musicals. "In the Heights" really got the ball rolling with their tony win last year. I hope that the occasional stigma of the hip-hop world doesn't bar the critics from enjoying these shows.
