I am crazy excited about this festival. i organized my entire class on trips to see these shows, buying over 30 tickets. mostly, i am really intrigued to see Radio and Juliet, what a poetic story and a clashing music group! I love the culture and world-ness that is so close here in Pittsburgh. Honestly, i never would have guessed that such opportunities would exist in this city, and am happily surprised.

  2. I'm not complaining about the art scene in Pittsburgh, but let's just say that I've seen better (Sure, it has its moments). I think this Festival First is an amazing step forward towards building a stronger sense of arts in the city to outsiders. I think if Pittsburgh was being watch more we'd see more work coming through here. This idea is brillant and it'll get Pittsburgh not only on the cultural map but probably boost its tourism rate.

  3. I'm going to go see theater of the senses and I'm pretty excited about that. Its neat that its attracting outside business and helping to bring up the name of the Pittsburgh arts scene.

  4. I am very excited about this festival and will be attending four shows this time. I would attend all of the performances if I didn't have to juggle school too. I am particularly curious about Theater of the Senses. Though I have to say that I had never heard of the festival until I arrived at CMU. I wonder how much publicity the festival gets outside of Pittsburgh. Not very much apparently.

This sounds interesting. There is a lot of theatre stuff in Pittsburgh but i feel like there aren't that many interesting art installations or performances in this area or at least that I hear of. The Andy Warhol performance looks interesting and I will defiantly check that out if i have the time.

  7. I'm so excited. I'm really looking forward to Teatro de los Sentidos, and the light installations.

I also don't really understand people that complain about the Pittsburgh Art Scene. I've only been here 7 weeks, and I've been to a gallery party, 3 museums, and some incredibly interesting shows and concerts. I'm from Houston, where there aren't even 3 museums to go to if you wanted to.

  8. I glad that the festival is encompassing different performance styles and types of audience interaction. I'm looking forward to kassys and the senses piece down at the hunt armory.

  9. I'm very excited for this festival to begin. I think it will be a fantastic chance to make ground breaking theatre readily available to the masses and for the wider community. Also, I am appreciative of the ticket pricing for CMU students because I feel this will widen my knowledge of new theatre, both regional and world-wide, and give me a broader pool of information to pull on.

it's exciting to see how arts festivals are actually developing a lasting life. It seems that most cities that bring in an arts festival can make a steady profit off of it's patrons. it is definitely an attraction for the college age group and a majority of the the youth. the most difficult of getting a festival into a community is convincing it that it is going to be profitable. it is a good thing to see that more towns are realizing that it actually can boost its polularity.
