The Eyeballing Game

Toolmonger: "The Eyeballing Game should come with a warning — it’s that addictive. The idea here is to see how close you can come to making the mark without measuring, just by gauging distance and angle with the Mark I eyeball."

  1. That was kind of hard, but very interesting. I need to work on my eyeballing skills. Sometimes I was very close to accurate other times I was way off.

Eyeballing distances is a very useful skill, so I'm glad this is around to help practice. There's lots of dumb, simple games on the Internet, but this one is actually pretty practical.

  3. I did not do well in class when we were tested on our eyeballing skills and I have obviously not improved since. I am currently working on learning sizes of some standard objects so that I can use them as quick references to compare things to, and hopefully come closer to the correct measurement.

  4. I agree with everyone else this is such a useful tool. I got pretty close when we practiced this method in class. I am happy that there is such a practical tool to close the distance between being a little off in my estimates and being exact.

I love doing these kinds of games. i find that the more you are around a material that you know the lengths of and the more you guess at what they are, the better you get. after a summer of working construction, i find that i am easily able to guestimate the lengths and heights of objects.
