Theatre Technician job description:
Duties include assisting the Technical Director with the construction and implementation of scenic requirements for all Pitt Repertory Theatre productions, and assisting with the maintenance of all shop related equipment. Additional duties include assisting the Master Electrician with maintenance and organization of hang and focus crews, and lighting equipment.
Good theatrical carpentry skills required; rigging, welding and electrics experience a plus. Must be able to work at heights, lift a minimum of 70 pounds, build from shop drawings and work calmly and efficiently with others under pressure of deadlines. Candidates must be able to manage time well and work effectively with students.
Minimum of two years experience in the scene shop of an educational or professional theatre required.
Position is 20 hours per week. Occasional nights and weekends required.
