Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: "In less than a month, the 55th Carnegie International, set to open May 3, will bring worldwide attention to Pittsburgh and the 40 artists from 17 countries included in the show."
I just marked this in my calendar. it sounds like such a wonderful experience. worldwide art show in universal medias. and it all comes together in Pittsburgh of all places. how fortunate for us. i wonder what sorts of media other than video are used. i assume there is a large variety considering the variety of backgrounds the artists come from.
I think what will be most interesting about this piece is the cultural perception of the main theme. We live in a generation where space exploration has been around long enough for it to seem normal, at least in our country. Strangely enough, I was just listening to the song "Life on Mars" this morning. The 30 year old political commentary within the song will also provide an interesting backdrop for artists to explore.
