David Mamet - November
New York Times: "IT is somehow appropriate that during an election year threatening to cause a collective national headache, at least among Democrats, the most migraine-inducing plays of the New York theater season should both concern themselves with politics. What is surprising is that these troublesome plays should come from two of the most renowned playwrights working today."
Although this writer is very opinionated and bias, i can see what he's saying as far as the timing of the plays and their content. it is always to see playwrights discuss politics, but it always seems that the more subtle the content and themes the more subversive the play actually becomes. the two of these play seem very forward in their content and themes, and therefore may be received poorly.
