David Javerbaum of ‘The Daily Show’ and Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne Go Broadway With ‘Cry-Baby’
New York Times: "DAVID JAVERBAUM and Adam Schlesinger are boyish-looking guys who grew up seven miles apart in Essex County, N.J. Each went to an elite Massachusetts college, moved to New York, got married, had two daughters and contributed to some of the wittier works of pop culture of the last decade."
I would never want this job, but I greatly admire people who do it. It's interesting to hear about the process on this show, since I think it's so easy for us to write off popular and trendy Broadway musicals as 'useless' and 'artless' but they go through the same sort of process as any other piece of theatre. It is interesting to recognize that these really talented people work on pieces that we tend to just ignore.
