Another late night at the theatre

Guardian Unlimited: "I often think that I would have been at home in Elizabethan London, when performances took place in the afternoon. I like matinees, particularly in the winter when you go in during daylight and emerge from the dark into the dark at just the right time for a glass of red wine. One of the reasons I like Edinburgh so much is that you don't have to wait until the evening to go to the theatre but can watch Filter performing their wonderful production of Twelfth Night at 10.30am or see Unlimited at midday."

One thing those theatres can do during the day other than have performances (which would be a great idea with a little bit more planning) would be to have classes during the day. open the theatre to schools without theatres in them and allow the students to learn about projecting, acting, dancing, rigging, the possibilities are endless. the room could even be used for lectures if you close the main rag. theatres can be such versatile spaces and the space inside them is so costly that letting them sit vacant is such a waste.
