How to cut a tree into a table

The Hardware Aisle: "And there's something just plain wonderful about the phrase Slabs for Sale. It appears on the website of Urban Hardwoods, a Seattle company with over 18 pages of ash, walnut, redwood, and maple that have been reclaimed from urban trees that would otherwise be burned, chipped, or headed to the landfill."

  1. I like this idea. I personally like the look of the desk they created, not too complex, simple and natural characteristics. I personally like natural elements in my life, i get tired of seeing the jagged industrial part of life and enjoy the very natural things about life. Their mission is a great one and should help reclaim some trees that might have otherwise been destroyed for some other remedial task.

Tables that are slabs of trees are really cool looking. One of the things I want to do (i've been wanting to do this for a while) later in my life is actually buy a slab of a tree and make it into a table or desk or something. I think it's great, also, that they are basically saving these trees, and not using forest trees.

I really need to start making a list of projects I want to undertake when I have more time and money. There are so many times I see cool projects like this and I just want to go buy a large block of wood and see what I can make it into. I have had so many good ideas fall through the cracks that I think I’m going to start a “To Do with in the next 20 years” list.
