Word of Mouth: Avenue Q
Broadway.com: "Avenue Q became the surprise of the 2003/2004 theater season when it beat out heavy-hitter Wicked for that year's Best Musical Tony Award, and it has been going strong ever since! It tells the story of Princeton, a bright-eyed college grad who moves to Avenue Q with big dreams and a tiny bank account. Together, he and his newfound neighbors struggle to find jobs, dates, and their ever-elusive purpose in life. We sent three of our Word of Mouth critics over to the Golden Theatre to find out if they think Q is worth the accolades and has stood the test of more than three years on the Great White Way. Find out!"
Of course!! It's the best show in years!! I think the success comes from re-evaluating the ways to present the taboos that was usually not discussed in other plays or musicals. The musical discusses themes such as sex, porn, minority rage, sexuality, or Schadenfreude certainly appeals to lots of people.
