Officials Warn Against Community Burnout

Backstage: "It's an affliction that can strike anywhere in the world, from your own backyard to the streets of London to Timbuktu: location burnout. It occurs when numerous films use the same location over and over and over again, leaving the audience wondering, 'Haven't I seen this place before?'"

  1. It's interesting how they talk about location burn out because it is not something I tend to think about. I'm the kid that knows every movie that was filmed in my home town. However, I can understand how in the more metropolis areas the filming can become a big inconvenienece. Hopefully they can find a balance between the filmmakers and the public.

There are some cities that simply thrive on location filming. I feel even like the filming that is taking place on campus is a bother and although it is mostly harmless, it is still a pain to drive and to have some pa yelling at you not to talk because they are filming upstairs. Also, think about the impact of a location shoot that takes place in a remote area, like Alaska or the Amazon or something. These things, though you don't really think about it while you are watching the movie took an immense amount of planning and coordination and cooperation between a lot of different groups of people.

I can see what they are talking about, the Heniz school have these strange movie lights hanging in the hall, and it makes it so ungodly bright that i cannot focus. But this issue is a two way street. Having a movie filmed in your town brings in money, but raises noise, traffic, and dirt, but if the production team is proactive and nice, then it could be a fun experience.
