Light Up Night festivities kick off holiday season
Post Gazette: "Pittsburgh gets its annual jump-start on the holiday shopping season Friday with Light Up Night -- the Downtown night out marked by tree-lighting ceremonies, roving crowds, open-late stores and awkwardly worded marketing pitches."
YAY! Light up night means that it is almost Christmas!! But really, I think its good that the city does these events that are totally family friendly and that take place downtown, a place that you might not go if you didn't work down there. It really helps to make Pittsburgh a place that is a decent sized city that has the small town-y feel to it. Granted, these things aren't always the most well produced or most flawlessly executed things, but they are traditions and they are things that Pittsburghers like. And if there is one thing that is really important to someone from Pittsburgh, it is a tradition.
