Best New Workwear for Contractors and Tradesmen: Spring 2025
Pro Tool Reviews: As the calendar turns to spring, it’s a transition season for professional tradesmen and tradeswomen. The cold weather is on its way out, but it’s not going quietly. To help you find the right layers no matter what the weather’s attitude is for the day, we’ve collected some of the best new workwear for contractors that caught our attention. Whether you’re after new work pants, shirts, outerwear, eyewear, footwear, or something else, this guide has something for every man or woman who works the trades for a living.

This was a really interesting article to read because it somewhat inadvertently highlighted the gender gap in the trades. For every five articles of clothing such as shoes or boots ‘for men’, there was one ‘for women’. I’m not one to gender much clothing either, but it was also interesting to notice that even in an area where clothing needs to be practical and useful, there were still so many changes in between the ‘men’s’ and the ‘women’s’ clothing items. The same ‘men’s’ jacket was a different fit and layout entirely than the same one for ‘women’. Furthermore, while I do not deny that part of this may be due to the simple fact that there are more men in these roles traditionally, I think that these clothing trends only serve to enhance the fact. Having a wide range of clothing meant for you, without weird gendered baggage, or from more than the one manufacturer who bothered to make something that could fit you properly, would go a long way in making women feel like they belonged in contracting or tradesperson fields.
