I think that this is probably a much-needed and much-welcomed renovation. I wasn't sure how I would feel about this, because I really love old theatres and wish that more of them were preserved. However, I think there is also a lot to say for what architects can do these days to improve a space. Modern architecture has revolutionized the use of space and design, and I feel that it is possible to retain some of that old charm while improving functionality and appeal. Maybe we should be less resistant to improving old theatres. Or not...
