Post Gazette: "In the next few years, Carnegie Mellon University might be staking its claim on Craig Street. The university is hoping to brand the eclectic stretch of Craig Street between Forbes and Fifth avenues as an extension of its campus."
Eh, I don't know how effective this would be in terms of "tying a bow" to bring together Craig St. and the surrounding area with the main campus. Obviously this 10 year plan would have little effect while we are still present in this program, but being familiar with Harvard Square, I do not think adding Carnegie Mellon signs all over Craig is going to turn it into Harvard. I really hope they don't put any tartan like signs lining the sidewalks, that would be incredibly tacky. I think instead of focusing on expanding the campus in that way, more of an effort should be placed into expanding the campus community's interaction with the rest of Pittsburgh. I have always been a little disappointed in that aspect of Carnegie Mellon, and I see that as a more viable option than creating our own Harvard Square.
