Kasia Reilly's contemporary dance project Dolina is absurd and surreal

Dance | Pittsburgh | Pittsburgh City Paper: A few unexpected adjectives stand out when Kasia Reilly describes her contemporary dance performance project, Dolina. “Absurd” comes up, as does “surreal.” As Reilly explains, these themes play out in a variety of ways, from bursts of tense laughter, to dancers uncannily mirroring each other, to a warped sense of time.

This is really weird and even the promotional photos are a little off putting. I kind of love it though because it is so weird and out of the box it makes people think about what they are doing and what they are feeling after the performance. I think that this is what my Imaginarium group wants to do a little. The weirdness of things and the juxtapositions aof expectations and reality will always make people think hard and I want that for our Imaginarium. For this show I think that they succeeded because this writer seems to really like it and seems to have had a semi-profound experience while watching it. Personally, I do not need a profound experience in our Imaginarium but I do want people to think about what it is that we are putting out and why and who and what is happening. There will be a lot of things going on but hopefully it will make some sense.
